Siberian rotary operator Norilsk Avia has received two Mi-8AMT helicopters manufactured at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant. The aircraft fall under a contract between Russian Helicopters, a part of Rostec State Corporation, Gazprombank Leasing and Norilsk Avia. The machines have been delivered in transport configuration.

The agreement concluded between the parties in 2019 will supply 10 Mi-8AMT helicopters until 2024. To date, four helicopters have already been delivered to Norilsk Avia under the contract. Two Mi-8AMTs are already in operation in the Krasnoyarsk region and were handed over in 2020.

Norilsk Avia uses helicopters both for commercial transportation and for prompt response to emergencies,” notes Ulan-Ude MD Leonid Belykh. “Ambulance flights and passenger transportation to remote settlements are also carried out. The flight performance of the machines makes it possible to solve a wide range of tasks with their help.”

In the near future, the new Mi-8AMT will be delivered to Norilsk Avia's site of operation. The helicopters will provide an opportunity to update its existing aircraft fleet, which, in turn, will contribute to the development of transport infrastructure in remote regions of the Russian Far North.

The transport capabilities of the Mi-8AMT helicopter provide transportation of up to 27 passengers on folding seats, as well as the transportation of goods weighing up to four tonnes inside the cargo compartment or on an external sling.
