Blackbushe comes out on top in planning battle
There has been great uncertainty hanging over the future of Blackbushe airport in Camberley, UK, but a new order from the Planning Inspectorate has cleared the way for investment in general and business aviation.
Blackbushe Airport has welcomed the common land deregistration decision.

Blackbushe airport has received the decision of the Planning Inspectorate with respect to application COM/3206697, an application to deregister the active aerodrome from Yateley Common, an area of heathland protected under law.

The decision is in favour of Blackbushe, bringing an end to five decades of uncertainty regarding its future. The owners believe the airport is in desperate need of substantial investment, and this outcome paves the way for that to happen.

The application and inquiry process lasted two and a half years, and a great deal of hard work from many supporters, users and former employees of the airport. The current owners, who purchased the airfield in 2015, have a vision of Blackbushe as a general aviation centre of excellence, supporting a wide range of activities.

Blackbushe will now focus its attention on the rationalisation of the airport layout and the design. This will include plans for hangarage and other required facilities.
