Certification for Aircell's Axxess
AirCell Axxess, the satcom system launched at NBAA 2005, has received FAA certification. AirCell says it was designed with an open system architecture, enabling users to add features as technology changes. AirCell and EMS Satcom are collaborating to formally validate and integrate EMS's eNfusion HSD high-speed data terminals with the Axxess satcom system.

Schkolnik joins Gulfstream's supersonic programme
Gulfstream has appointed Gerard Schkolnik as director of its supersonic technology programmes. In addition to overseeing Gulfstream's ongoing research into sonic boom suppression, the former NASA control engineer will direct the company's research of structural concepts and advanced materials, propulsion integration and supersonic aerodynamics.

Thielert to open facility in Altenburg
Hamburg-based aircraft engine manufacturer Thielert is to build a third German facility at Altenburg-Nobitz airport. Over a three-year period, the company says it will invest up to 6.4 million Euros and employ around 50 staff at the site.

Certification and first delivery for the Cessna Citation Mustang programme are now both scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2006 and the Mustang prototypes, serial number 0001 and serial number 0002, have accumulated more than 850 total flight hours.

Falcon 7X subjected to 'brutal' weather conditions
Falcon 7X serial number 02 has completed five days of cold soak trials at Iqaluit and Resolute Bay in northern Canada. Dassault says that temperatures during the tests reached as low as -33oC during the campaign that ran from April 6 to April 10. All aircraft systems performed as designed.
