Austrian Mustang operator GlobeAir is celebrating 10 years of operations with a number of environmentally-friendly initiatives. Having introduced paperless cockpits across its fleet and optimising its scheduling and positioning in order to reduce fuel consumption, the company has also become one of the first operators to join the Carbon Offset Programme.

The programme was launched by online booking platform Victor and is being promoted by Air BP under the BP Target Neutral scheme. Passengers who charter a private jet with GlobeAir can collect carbon credits, which are donated to forest protection, gas switching and the building of cookstoves, biodigesters and hydropower plants worldwide.

CEO Bernhard Fragner says: "This initiative gives us an excellent platform to build on the work we have already done to adopt navigation technologies that reduce fuel consumption and emissions."

ICAO's initiative to reduce environ-mental impact CORSIA requires that operators offset carbon emissions exceeding the average baseline of 2019 and 2020 at their own expense.
