Babcock becomes launch customer for Safran engine health initiative
Babcock Mission Critical Services Onshore (Babcock MCS) is the first customer to sign up to Safran's Helicopter Engines Health Monitoring service.

Babcock Mission Critical Services Onshore (Babcock MCS) is the first customer to sign up to Safran's Helicopter Engines Health Monitoring service. The service will enable Babcock to track engine life data and reduce unplanned events. Safran states that engine life can be improved by early detection of low signals, prognosis analysis and maintenance plan customisation.

Babcock MCS operates an Airbus Helicopters H135 fleet equipped with Arrius 2B2 powerplants. Director of engineering Shaun Strain comments: “We have successfully tested the Safran solution for more than a year now. Receiving personalised reports directly from the manufacturer allows us to adjust our maintenance programme, resulting in cost and time savings.”

Safran executive VP Franck Saudo adds: “Health monitoring is an added-value digital service that delivers expert analysis of more than 60 parameters. Resulting maintenance recommendations are customised to each engine mission, enhancing the daily support of our clients' flight operations.”

The Safran monitoring service is available at either Essential level, where the customer is responsible for data collection and analysis, or Premium, where maintenance recommendations by Safran experts are tailored to the customer's fleet, mission and usage.
