Austrian air taxi operator GlobeAir has partnered with the 40th Cannes Yachting Festival, which took place from 12-17 September. The event attracted around 500 visitors and 600 boats were on display.

GlobeAir had predicted a surge in the number of private jets flying into Cannes Mandelieu and Nice Cote d'Azur during this time, as in 2016 the number was up by 8.8 per cent compared with the average for the month. This turned out to be true; the company operated 32 flights to and from the region during this year's show, which doubled last year's figure.

“We are delighted to partner with the Cannes Yachting Festival, raising our profile in the international yachting and sailing industry and providing the visitors with the possibility of attending the boat show in a fine and fast way by landing and departing directly from Cannes Mandelieu airport,” says chief marketing officer Mauro De Rosa. “The airport is only accessible to business jets and helicopters, and it is just six kilometres away from the port.”

GlobeAir's fleet of Citation Mustang jets is able to connect more than 1,500 airports around Europe and north Africa, including those with a short runway.
