Danish operator FlexFlight has taken delivery of its first heavy jet in the form of a Challenger 604. Sales manager Thomas Dessau says that the arrival opens up possibilities, as the operator will now be able to offer flights all over the world. “With the light jets we primarily flew within Europe and Russia. We flew to Kyrgyzstan on the Bravo once and that's the furthest from Europe we have been, as well as a few north African destinations. But with the Challenger we can go to the US, to South America with a fuel stop, and Africa, the Middle East and Far East. We would like to manage more heavy jets, so we are exploring the market to see if we can find some more.”

He says that his client base has welcomed the aircraft and a busy period ensued. “We started flying it at the beginning of January and we flew almost 40 hours that month. We had a slow February but it has picked up again for March with around 35 hours. I hope we can get a lot more this year.

“We needed additional expertise to handle these flights so we have teamed up with an external ops department called X-Operations in Austria. They are helping us with flight planning and permissions.”

FlexFlight also added a CJ2+ towards the end of 2016.
