Luxembourg-based European Air Ambulance (EAA) has won recognition for its innovation, commitment to patient care and investment in air services by being named as Air Ambulance Provider of the Year 2016 at the ITIJ Industry Awards in Berlin.

The company, which operates from Luxembourg airport, saw off competition from the USA, Canada and Africa to take top spot as voted for by clients and industry colleagues.

EAA has a pioneering infectious disease module and a self-developed stretcher system for heavyweight patients, and both of these capabilities were singled out for praise. It is one of the largest specialised air ambulance service providers in Europe and is about to add a fourth Learjet 45XR to its fleet as an upgrade to the 35A.

Director of sales and marketing Patrick Schomaker comments: “We are continually looking to improve, invest and innovate, and our focus on client services and patient care is renowned.

“Winning the award was a proud moment, and recognition of the professionalism and dedication that underpins EAA. Our 165 staff work incredibly hard, and we would all like to thank our clients and others in the industry who voted for us.”

The company has now settled into its new headquarters at Luxembourg airport, completed in Q2 2016. All of its staff are now under one roof, leading to improved logistical efficiency.
