Kent, UK-based Lydd Air has taken on a King Air 200, which it will use to carry out ad hoc charter and medevac from the Isle of Man.

The aircraft was managed by the company for a private owner – Rendezvous Sky – prior to the purchase, but when the aircraft no longer suited the owner, Lydd Air opted to buy it outright.

Says ceo Jonathan Gordon: “The business in the IoM and elsewhere is building well, and we are pleased to be able to offer a turbine aircraft here.

“We will also be undertaking a brand new IoM satellite operation.” Gordon reports record figures so far in 2014, and Lydd Air has been able to take on several additional pilots amid the increasing activity.

“Our home base airport Lydd is isolated, which can be a downside,” he adds. “However, it is close to Europe and this is a real advantage. We will be looking to continue our organic and strategic growth.”
